About Me

I am a "Twenty something" year old Swedish girl, currently living in Montreal for the past 5 years. I recently started blogging. I write a lot about my life in Montreal, work, traveling, shopping, friends and sometimes a little bit about LOVE. Even though my blog talks a lot about fashion I would not call it a "fashion blog". I am not quite sure what to call this blog. I blog about everything I love around the world. It can be anything from fashion to food. It's simply a Viktoria blog, a blog about the things I love...so I will call it ViktoriaLove! Welcome to my blog!

Taco Salad

Share
One of my absolute favorite salads is the Taco Salad, but it has to be home made. I have tried so called Taco Salads in a few restos but they have been a little disappointing.

Well, last night my friend MinJi was coming over for dinner and I know how much she LOVES my Taco Salad so I decided to surprise her by making one.

I will show you step by step how to make the BEST Taco salad ever, I am very positive that you will LOVE it and the best part is that it is super easy to make.

Here are all the ingredients you need for a great Taco Salad:
Veggies:
Napa lettuce/cabbage
Peppers
Baby onions
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Avocado
Corn
Other ingredients:
AAA Angus minced meat (lean)
Mexicana grated cheese (from Kraft)
Old El Paso Taco Salsa
Old El Paso Taco spice
Nacho chips / Taco shells

Chop the Napa lettuce/cabbage.
The reason I like to use this specific lettuce is because when you add the minced meat and mix everything together this lettuce does not go soggy. Other types of lettuce become soggy because of the heat from the meat that is added.

Chop the cucumbers into cubes and add on top of the lettuce in the bowl

Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and add to the salad.
The reason why I like to use cherry tomatoes is because it is easier to chop them and they look pretty, but you can use any type of tomatoes.

Scoop out the avocado with a spoon and add to the salad.
I usually use avocado because it has less calories than Guacamole but if you don't count your calories like I do you can go ahead and use guacamole instead.

Chop finely and add to salad
Whether you use spring onions or regular onions it does not matter it is all up to ones individual taste but I prefer spring onions because they have a softer taste and are easier to digest.

This is a pretty easy step, add canned corn to the salad.

Add as much cheese as desired to the salad.
Grated cheese is a must in a Taco Salad.
Again it is up to you to choose the cheese you like the most but the Mexicana cheese from Kraft is my favorite for the Taco Salad, hence the name Mexicana.

Ok, so your salad should look something like this after following all the steps above.
Yay! Almost done....
I always like to leave the salad in layers and only mix it just before eating, it looks prettier when served like this.
Now that your salad is almost complete it is time too cook the minced meat.
Put the minced meat in the pan and add the Taco Spice to desired taste.

When the meat is cooked put it on top of the salad, top it off with some crushed nachos and some Taco Salsa.
It is ready to eat now.
If you decide to make this salad let me know what you think.

Enjoy my favorite Taco Salad!!!

xoxo
